Equipment used for running out moulds

To make running moulds, a variety of equipment is needed.

Buckets are used carrying materials and mixing. They should be made of plastic so that they can handle a lot.

Plastic or rubber bowls are used for mixing and carrying small amounts of materials. The bowls are made of plastic or rubber because they are easier to clean.

Benches are all different sizes, depending on the area you are working in, but they will be made of a strong timber because they need to last. The top of the bench is made from plasterboard so that it can easily be replaced if damaged with holes/cuts. The bench must have a perfectly straight edge of timber or metal on each side. This is for running out mouldings.

Plaster bins are used to store plaster. They keep the workplace tidier and the plaster stays dry.

Water tanks are used for two different so you should have two. One is for clean, quality water to mix materials such as plaster with and one is used for running moulds and cleaning equipment. This is known as a slosh tank. The slosh tank has been cleaned on a regular basis to stop the build up of plaster.
