Pad Saw asa Drywall Saw
Tape mesure
String
Offcut of plasterboard
Utility Knife (Stanley Knife)

Using the pad saw and cut the hole in the ceiling to square or retangler shape constantly checking for cables and pipes that may be between the ceiling and the upstairs floorboards. If you come across a joist just stop and using the Utility knife expose 20mm of the joist.
